Over the past years, marketers have been shifting to internet marketing. They have allotted their marketing budgets to the web. Internet or online marketing is the use of the internet to advertise and sell goods and services. The results of internet marketing campaigns are almost immediate unlike traditional marketing methods. Clients are enticed to click on the banner so as to make sales or offer activities such as surveys.
• Pay per click also called “sponsored ads” or “sponsored links”. Advertisers create “keywords” you would probably type in search bar when looking for services or products. For example, if an advertiser sells denim jackets, he/she will bid for the keyword “denim jackets” wishing a client looking for denim jackets would see their ad, tick on it and buy.
• Search Engine Marketing – sales through search engines; purposely, it increases the visibility of a web page by improving a web site’s content and structure in the search engine results page.
• Interactive advertising – uses media like mobile devices and interactive television to promote products and services to offline and online consumers.
With the different kinds of internet marketing, a business owner may ask, what skills should I have to be at par with the rapid changes in the business environment? Many of us take pride on the knowledge we have with the Internet. Being updated in the modern world and recent developments is probably one of the factors to stay alive in a competitive business environment.

• Sound Knowledge about search engines -The search environment nowadays is strangely complex and competitive. These engines are powerful tools to advertise via internet. Being savvy with these engines might be of great use in marketing any products or service.
• Knowledge and ability to program in CSS, HTML and basic JavaScript - When building a new site, you should think about it as an art. You must have knowledge of an application designer which can be applied when constructing a webpage. Interactive and attractive websites are a great plus in offering products or services.
• Good communication and writing skills. A good advertiser must properly endorse his/her products through catchy advertisements. Communication skills are needed when sending correspondence through emails. Email communication should enhance the relationship of a merchant with old and current costumers to encourage repeat purchases and consumer loyalty.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new techniques - You should have a desire to remain up to date with certain strategies towards technology. Nowadays, it is certain that consumers are looking forward to new things, being innovative and being able to be adaptable to consumers demand is a very useful skill to master.
