The internet has changed the landscape of doing business and earning money. Residual income which used to be the territory of the rich before has become an open game wherein anyone from anywhere in the world can participate. People are just coming to realize all the advantages to be had in internet marketing.

But not all affiliate marketing strategies are created equal as some may be more effective than others but what is important is for you to choose which on is right for you. There are different ways of doing this, one of the most common of which is pay per click or PPC. This type of marketing is particularly preferred by the start-ups online because it is quite effortless for them to earn this way. Pay per click works when an internet surfer visits the affiliate’s site and then clicks on an advertiser’s space on that page. Every click of a visitor will bring an income to the affiliate and it does not really matter whether the visitor buys or not. The downside to this however, is that the income from every click is very small so you need regular and even consistent visitors to your site.

Another popular way to earn is through the pay per performance or PPP program. This type of program is not as easy as the pay per click type but it is much more rewarding for both in terms of monetary benefit because on the part of the advertiser, they will only pay whenever the visitor to your particular site actually buys or pays for a product or service that is being offered. Meanwhile, on the part of the affiliate, he will be able to generate revenues of fifteen up to twenty percent of what his visitors had paid just by maintaining his site.

Under the pay per performance is the pay per sales type of marketing and this was the example above. The affiliate would only have income when his visitors actually pay. On the other hand, also under the pay per performance program is the pay per lead. This type is dissimilar to the pay per sales but it also has commonalities. This type is actually preferred by different financial institutions and it usually pays a fixed amount of fee for every person that was referred from your site.

But it doesn’t end there. Affiliate marketing can also be classified through layers. For example, all that was stated above falls under the single-tier wherein you will only be paid for the sales you had recommended directly to the advertiser. There is also the second-tier wherein you will get paid when the person you referred generates a sale. Then there is the most preferred type which is the multi-tier, the concept here is basically just the same but this will allow you to generate more income because of the sheer number of people under you.

There is really no way to tell what kind of internet marketing is the best because what works for one may not work for another. It is really for you to distinguish what internet marketing program will give you the most residual income possible.
